Decatur – Jeanne M. Farkas, 94 of Decatur formerly of Oreana, IL passed away at 9:15 a.m., June 20, 2011 in her daughter’s residence.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion.  Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Macon County Conservation Foundation for the Homestead Prairie Farm.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Jeanne was born November 12, 1916 in Decatur the daughter of Herb and Marie (McFadden) Martin.  She married Steve J Farkas on September 22, 1942.  He preceded her in death.  She was a 1934 graduate of Decatur High School.  She enjoyed poetry and was a published poet.  She also enjoyed reading and traveling.

 

Surviving are her children: Bonnie Lanham and her husband Roger of Decatur, Wade Farkas of Waddell, AZ and Randy Farkas of Peoria, AZ;

three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren also survive.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and one grandson.
